This film is based on reincarnation. At first, in 1977 Om Prakash Makhija (SRK) falls for Shantipriya (Deepika Padukone). Om is ready to give up life for her. He feels betrayed by her. She feels betrayed in love. Then calamity strikes, somehow Om dies. Later in 2007, Om Kapoor (SRK) takes rebirth. Om remembers his past life and takes revenge of his and Shanti’s deaths in a fire caused by Mukesh (Arjun Rampal).
